Dr. Francesca Annan qualified as a dietitian in Cardiff in 1990, and also has an MSc in Sport & Exercise Nutrition. She currently works as Clinical Specialist Paediatric/Adolescent Diabetes Dietitian at University College London Hospitals having previously been the lead Paediatric Diabetes Dietitian at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital in Liverpool. She runs a specialist exercise and diabetes management clinic for children and adolescents.Al ongside her clinical work she teaches on Masters programmes in diabetes management at York and Warwick Universities and is the current chair of the paediatric subgroup of the British Dietetic Association diabetes specialist group. She is a co-author of the 2014 ISPAD clinical consensus guidelines chapter on Nutritional Management of Diabetes and was a member of The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) Guideline development group for the Diabetes in Children Guideline (NG18) published in 2015. Outside of work she enjoys being active, especially sea kayaking and actively participates in the running of Liverpool Canoe Club.

Dr. Nidia Rodriguez-Sanchez is a Mexican Sports Dietitian. She completed her degree in Dietetics and Nutrition and then continued her journey by completing the IOC Diploma in Sports Nutrition, which initiated her interest for optimising athlete nutrition. Nidia gained valuable experience as a Nutrition Advisor in Mexico at the Gatorade Sports Science Institute Mexico (GSSI). She also had the privilege of working with teams at Club Cruz Azul, A.C. in Mexico City, where she contributed to the development of young athletes and the nutrition strategies for the First Team players. Currently, Nidia is sharing her expertise as a lecturer in physiology and nutrition at the University of Stirling in Scotland. Her role involves educating the next generation of sports scientists, and she is also the Programme Director of the MSc in Sports Nutrition. Nidia’s research portfolio is diverse, covering topics such as hydration, body composition, nutrition, and metabolism in athletes and the general population. She is dedicated to advancing the understanding of human physiology in various contexts, including sports environments.

Dr. Oliver C. Witard is a Senior Lecturer in Nutrition and Exercise Metabolism in the Faculty of Life Sciences and Medicine at King’s College London, UK. His multi-disciplinary research spans two research groups within King’s: (i) Muscle: Form and Function in the Centre for Human & Applied Physiological Sciences, and (ii) Diet and Cardiometabolic Health in the Department of Nutrition. Oliver’s research focus is healthy ageing. He is interested in understanding the physiology that underpins why we lose muscle mass and quality with age. His research also explores the role of exercise and novel nutritional interventions – primarily protein and omega 3 fatty acid nutrition – to offset age-related perturbations in muscle metabolism. He has extensive expertise in stable isotopic tracer methodology for measuring in vivo muscle protein turnover in humans and also applies these techniques to athletic populations to optimise training adaptations, body composition and performance. Recently, Oliver has delivered invited talks at international symposiums and industry events, including the British Society for Research in Ageing (BSRA), International Sport and Exercise Nutrition conference, Bridge2Food, Food Matters Live and The Biogredia Health and Nutrition Forum. Oliver is a former board member of the Nutrition Society (Scottish section) and a member of the Royal Society of Edinburgh Young Academy of Scotland. Oliver also provides nutrition consultancy for Scottish Ballet.
